Guadalupe Mountains National Park 2025

After Big Bend, I headed north to Guadalupe Mountains National Park in far western Texas. This is where I hit a mule deer in the road, damaging my vehicle. The park was a short visit for me, since there is not a lot to see unless you go hiking into the canyons, and seeing as I travel alone, hiking by myself into canyons where black bears and mountain lions roam is not appealing.

After a brief visit to this park, I was on my way to Carlsbad Caverns National Park. The Guadalupe Mountains National Park deserves much more attention than I was able to give it. Many people love the hikes into the mountains, but I wasn’t prepared to do any of the hikes on my own, due to my tight schedule, my age and the dangerous animals in the park.
