Joshua Tree and Saguaro National Parks

These parks are close to major centers (Los Angeles and Tucson), but you feel as if you’re a million miles from civilisation. My travel blog entries are going to be mainly photos with not much text, really just impressionistic snapshots of the beauty and peace of nature. I attach links to high resolution versions of the photos in case anyone wants to print or re-use them.

There’s nothing quite like these giant cacti anywhere outside the US, as far as I know. They are enormous and impressive, but I was sad to see many of them dead and dying from the long climate-change-induced drought. The same goes for the poor Joshua trees, many of them yellowing and sickly. See them while you still can!

Next, on to Sedona, Arizona.
