I visited San Francisco’s Museum of Modern Art (known locally as SFMOMA). It’s always a pleasure to walk through this museum. There seemed to be an emphasis on female artists in the current display. Herewith some of the art that caught my eye, photographed at low resolution on a Samsung smartphone.
My photo above is of Yayoi Kusama’s Aspiring to Pumpkin’s Love, the Love in My Heart, 2023, (installation). Kusama’s story is quite interesting, if you have a few minutes.

There were a whole lot of muddy, lugubrious, pretentious works by Anselm Kiefer (1945- ), perhaps the world’s most overrated artist along with the “plate man” Julian Schnabel (1951- ). More pleasantly, there were several works by Gerhard Richter (1932- ), whom I quite like.
