Colorado’s Black Canyon of the Gunnison is a hidden gem. It’s not well known, yet quite spectacular to visit. The canyon itself is sheer and deep, giving one a sense of vertigo as one peers almost straight down into what seems to be a bottomless abyss. Very much worth visiting, this one. Photos cannot really convey the experience, but maybe my photos will give you some idea. (Please view these photos on a computer screen, not a smartphone. The larger the screen, the better. Phones are inadequate.)
The scenery on the approaching roads varies from rural to suburban, with the occasional picturesque scene.
