I was last in Zion National Park 30 years ago. This time, things were a bit different. Nowadays one has to book entry months ahead and take a shuttle bus from the nearby town of Springdale to get into the heart of the park. When I arrived, the gates were closed to private cars, as they now are for most of the year, so instead I drove along the adjacent Zion-Mount Carmel Highway and took photos along that route. I have precious video from 1994 of us climbing rocky massifs and skirting waterfalls in Zion itself, so I did not feel cheated or that I was missing out. A beautiful and dramatic landscape, unlike any other place, and a wonder to visit, Zion is a timeless wonder.
